The Hemingway: Where War Stories Meet Mountain Trails
We are proud to unveil a new addition to the Zonkey Boot collection — ZB 282, a hand-sewn Norvegese pedula, inspired by the rugged spirit of early 20th-century North Italian hiking boots. In the Veneto, where the Alps meet the plains, the rugged mountain trails of Monte Grappa have long witnessed the footsteps of soldiers, wanderers, and adventurers. Serving in Bassano del Grappa as an ambulance driver during the First World War, Ernest Hemingway himself experienced both the beauty and brutality of the Veneto countryside. It's this landscape—with its demanding terrain and storied past—that shaped the DNA of our latest creation.
This new model features a padded fully gusseted bellows tongue for enhanced weather protection and comfort, paired with traditional metal hardware — a combination of speed eyelets and hooks — ensuring a secure, adaptable fit.
Handcrafted from high quality calf leather, the boot is built on the Parachute last, with a leather midsole and a durable Saint Moritz rubber outsole, designed to meet the demands of both alpine trails and urban landscapes. It also features a leather-lined cork insole for natural cushioning and breathability, and for a truly personal fit. Blending craftsmanship with a rich history of mountaineering, this boot is designed to endure, wherever your journey takes you.
On The Shelf, we have two versions that can be pre-ordered in your size and fitting: HEMINGWAY and VITTORIO. Our MTO service opens up many more possibilities for customisations. We remain at your assistance to guide you through the process.
