The Jodhpur Boot

Originally worn as a riding boot by the British in India, the Jodhpur serves perfectly well as an all-round casual type of boot. There are many ways to place the straps on a Jodhpur pattern. We prefer the most traditional version, with the two straps crossing the vamp and each going one time around the ankle. Small loops on the heel part and the vamp hold the straps in place and make buckling up easy.

The entire vamp is cut from one single piece of leather and expertly blocked into shape. No seam is disturbing the beautiful lines of the Sailor boot last.

Blocking is an operation to give a flat piece of leather the three-dimensional curved shape of the boots vamp. The higher the boot leg, the more difficult it is to block it. Our 18 centimeter high Jodhpur vamp is about the maximum height good calf leather can be blocked up to.

The ZONKEY BOOT strap Jodhpur boot pictured above is made from French Aniline Calf leather and has calf leather lining, vegetable tanned bovine insoles and hand welted leather soles.
